Sam Buick was recently appointed by Robert Fitts as Canadian Director of Alpha-Omega Ministries which is a church planting ministry that seeks to plant churches that meet in homes in order to extend the Kingdom of God in all nations in the earth. This ministry seeks to see cities transformed through a return to primitive Christianity.

Sam has a heart for the city church, a church without denominational or doctrinal walls that will do all in its power to reach the lost and the prodigals that are roaming the streets looking for love, mercy, grace, meaning and lasting relationships without the trappings of institutional religion. Sam has a vision of reaching all the major urban centres in Canada through the exponential growth of churches that meet in houses. He has a burning desire to see a house church on every street in Kitchener-Waterloo.

Sam Buick was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He is the son of missionary parents and church planters. Sam spent the first ten years of his life in France. His family ministered all over the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Switzerland, West Germany, and Holland.

Sam's family moved to Canada to church plant and be involved in mission work. Their family began new works in Quebec. They moved to Ontario, where Sam now resides and has pursued his calling to the ministry. Sam served in several leadership roles in traditional evangelical churches. Sam also served for five years with Ligonier Ministries of Canada. He was ordained in 1995 and is currently a member in good standing with the Apostolic Church of Pentecost.

Sam believes the Lord is moving and shaking up the traditional church by what the Holy Spirit is doing through the house church movement, which he believes offers the best hope for revitalizing and renewing the church in this new millenium. He is convinced that what he calls "primitive Christianity", the raw and on edge ministry of the Holy Spirit working through ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary exploits for God, which energized and mobilized the church of the first century, has as its driving force, what some have named "open ministry" or an activated priesthood of believers which ministers from house to house. The Holy Spirit is the engine that leads, directs and empowers the priesthood of believers to minister to God, to one another and a hurting world.

Sam graduated from Emmanuel Bible College in 1987. He also has continued his education at Conestoga College (certificate in computer applications). He has continued his interest in a variety of subjects and fields. Sam's specific interests lie in the study of historical theology, history of the holocaust, and military history. Sam is a football fanatic and loves his Bills!

Sam graduated from high school in Peterborough, Ontario. He attended Trent University there before moving to Waterloo. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces Army Reserve as an NCO for over seven years. He is an avid history buff, and loves old B & W movies. He loves working on his Macintosh computer.

Sam earns his wages as a bilingual customer service representative for an insurance claims company. He is married to Lori Anne, a Registered Practical Nurse who works in Psychiatry. They have three daughters. Carragh, who went home to Jesus in 1993, at age 9, after a 7 year battle with cancer. Caitlin who is 12, who loves to express herself in the arts. She takes vocal lessons, and is a member of the Kitchener Waterloo Philarmonic Childrens Choir. Caitlin also loves reading, writing, and crafts. Erinn is 11 and loves piano and plays clarinet in a local band. She loves history, reading, math, crosswords and crafts. Both Caitlin and Erinn are homeschooled. All members of the family love playing card games of all kinds!
