A Walkin' In Gratitude

A Parable Of The Kingdom By Samuel M. Buick

I am no stranger to Gratitude. It's a nice little town. It don't seem to grow too big, and sometimes it feels real small. I came to Gratitude, what seems to me to be quite a spell ago. Well, I guess it weren't me who came, but rather, I was brought hare. It wasn't against my will or anythin' like that, ya understand. It was ma Father who brought me hare. At times I wonder what fer, at other times, I rightly know why and what fer b'fore you can ask me.

The town is jest like any other. The buildins look the same. As a matter of fact, the people 'round hare are rather plain, an' not too many stand out. I guess we jest all a kinda been hare so long, ya'd think we was as old as the buildins! Some of us ya can right well tell jest get off the soul train! Anyways you cut it, we belong hare together. We're a happy bunch. A real family.

Maybe "happy" ain't the word to use either. I suppose we're a contented bunch all right. Sure, we got our good days whare everybody loves everybody else an' then some! It's a kinda like a little of heaven on earth. For some of us, we're deeply concerned if heaven is gonna be like Gratitude. But, by the time we all get thar, it won't matter; we'll all get along jest fine anyhow!

No matter what comes our way, we've been learnin' that we can make it. After all, Father promised to take care of us all. Sometimes adverstity gets so bad, and we get so low, that ya can't even see up past the curb! Each an every time tho, Father sent His Son along, and He's been thar, bendin' down, pickin' us up, cleanin' us off, straightenin' us out, an' then some, an' then we set off agin, with the Son right thar beside us all along the way.

Thar's lots of good times too in Gratitude. Thar are times of joy and exultation. It's kinda like a big party. It ain't brash or noisy tho. It's jest plain happy folk enjoyin' all the benefits that Father has fer us. Enjoyin' the best life has to offer 'cause of the Father's Son. Ya see, it's His Son, who 'as made Gratitude the best place in the whole world to be. All the perks we enjoy as the citizens of Gratitude are the result of the Father an' the Son. Gratitude was their town, an' now 'cause of the Son, who finished all the work hiself, the Father has chosen us and adopted us as his kinfolk inta his own family. Father still has some more folk a'comin' to Gratitude, an' He told us, when He's got 'em all, He'll let us know, an' then, we'll all have the bestest Gratitude party ever!

Until then, I guess I'll keep a wakin' in Gratitude knowin' full well that Father wants me to enjoy bein' here and that His Son has some work fer us to do hare in Gratitude. Helpin' out and doin' whatever the Father an' His Son wants done is jest a way of life hare in Gratitude. Now, look it hare and remember, next time you take a left turn instead of a right, the Son is gonna be right thar beside you pointin' the way to the Father's House. He'll help ya out real good, an' ya'll get thar jest fine. Until then, jest keep on a walkin' in Gratitude.
